Location located in the vicinity of the capital, on the banks of the Odiel River. Today it is an important tourist center, due mainly to its splendid beaches. The town, surrounded by pine forests, owes its origin to a tower called Punta Umbria, which was built in the 14th century to warn of possible invasions. In summer they work the so-called “canoes”, which connect Punta Umbría with Huelva. Within its term are the natural park of the Marismas del Odiel and the natural site of Los Enebrales, two natural paradises of great ecological interest.
