Budens is a parish belonging to the beautiful municipality of Vila do Bispo, in the wonderful Barlavento Algarvio, still on the edge of the Natural Park of Southwest Alentejo and Costa Vicentina.

The region records human occupation since ancient times, presenting in its territory important archaeological remains that attest it, as the Lusitanian-Roman ruins of Boca do Rio.

Budens is still a rural town, which has undergone a major development in recent years given the region’s tourist growth, which for several decades was more protected from the large tourist masses.

The quiet parish of Budens with its typical Algarvian Moorish-influenced house of influence, is proud of its sixteenth-century Church of São Sebastião and of a single nave and fortresses belonging to its territory, such as Boca do Rio ( Or São Luís de Almádena) and Burgau.
